Cytology test
Cytology is an analysis of cells from the cervical canal and cervix, aimed at prevention and early detection of precancerous conditions and cervical cancer. It is a simple, safe and painless examination performed by a gynecologist or midwife.
Preparation for cytology test includes:
- Performing the test no earlier than 4 days after menstruation ends and no later than 4 days before expected menstruation.
- Discontinuing vaginal medications at least 4 days before the test.
- Not performing cultures, cervical swabs, gynecological examinations and transvaginal ultrasound 24 hours before the test.
- Avoiding sexual intercourse 24 hours before the test.
Cytology test procedure:
- Insertion of a speculum into the vagina.
- Collection of a swab from the cervix using a special brush.
- Preparation of a smear on a slide.
- Microscopic analysis of the material.
Waiting time for results is 15 working days.
Liquid-based cytology (LBC) This is a method based on thin-layer technology, which ensures greater accuracy than traditional cytology. The swab is collected with a brush and placed in a liquid medium.
Preparation for LBC test:
- We recommend performing tests between the 10th and 18th day of the cycle.
- Sexual intercourse should be avoided 24 hours before the test.
- On the day of the test, do not perform vaginal douching.

Colposcopy as an element of cervical cancer prevention
Colposcopy is a method of examining the cervix, vaginal walls, and vulva using a colposcope. It allows for a detailed assessment of the cervical epithelium under varying magnifications. It does not replace cytology but serves as its natural complement. By combining both examinations, early identification of changes is possible, which at this stage often do not cause any symptoms.
The procedure is painless, non-invasive, takes a few minutes and enables diagnosis.
It is not performed during menstruation. It is recommended that before the examination you do not have sexual intercourse, do not perform vaginal douching and do not undergo gynecological examinations.
HPV test
HPV infection is the main cause of cervical cancer. HPV test detects the presence of the virus and is performed along with cytology, which increases diagnostic sensitivity. Modern differential HPV test, detecting early stages of cancer development and identifying women at high risk of cervical cancer.
Recommended for women with confirmed HPV infection and abnormal cytology results.
Test preparation:
- Do not perform it during menstruation.
- Avoid using vaginal medications and intercourse 2-4 days before the test.
ROMA ovarian cancer risk assessment
ROMA test analyzes Ca125 and HE4 concentrations, classifying patients into ovarian cancer risk groups. It is a new tool supporting diagnostics and therapeutic decisions.
ROMA test is not recommended for women after cancer therapy or girls under 18 years of age.
BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes
Mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes increase the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. The test is recommended for women with a history of family cancer cases.
Breast ultrasound
Breast ultrasound is a safe and non-invasive ultrasound examination of the mammary gland. It should be performed preventively once a year, preferably between the 4th and 10th day of the menstrual cycle.
